Happy Birthday to you, Hapy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Baako.....Happy Birthday to you! Hip Hip Hooray!

Baako is 2 today, cant believe my boy is so grown up, still think of him as a puppy. Hes had a lovely day, a lovely walk this morning, then off to a show to say hi to all his friends, a visit to Pets at Home where he charmed all the staff and customers as usual, managing to secure quite a number of biscuits and then home to chill out on bed and chew on a big bone. Such a handsome boy, and I'm so proud to be his mummy!

Baako goes BOB again at LKA of Scotland Open show under judge Mrs F Nisbet (Finix). He is such a handsome boy, was unfortunately too tired when it came to the group as we had a very early start, and didnt show himself off, but im very proud of him.

Baako and I set out nice and early to Fife to Lisa's house, where we kindly got a lift to the RRCS funday, kindly hosted by Sharon Rossiter (Sonstraal)

The sun managed to come out slightly and it was a fantastic day. The dogs had an absolute ball, and its lovely to see all of them running around having fun together, the temperaments are a credit!

The fancy dress went down well, with many of the dogs present donning a costume and parading their thing. Baako was dressed as Peter Pan (aka the boy who never grew up, very fitting!) He was such a good boy, and behaved impeccably. Elvis was looking fab as Elvis, not wonder woman! Haha. Twinkle was pretty in pink as Tinkerbell, Lexy and Luke fab as a watch dog and a guard dog, but the real star was Floyd, who was dressed up as a lion, and was accompanied by a witch and a wardrobe! Fantastic! Well done Gillian for a fab costume, and well done on first place!

Leeds Championship Show

Thank you to Lisa for the lift down, much appreciated. The car was like a disco on the way down as we all danced and sang along to the radio, good times!

The weather was lovely, nice and warm, and it was lovely sitting outside the ring and having good conversation. The ice creams were lovely!

Baako got 4th place in a strong class, but moved beautifully, i was very pleased with him. Well done to Lisa & the rest of the Scottish gang for their placings.Baako was then handled expertly by Lisa's neice Emma in Junior Handling, her first time ever, and she was awarded 2nd place!! Fantastic result, a complete natural, and Baako behaved beautifully, I was so proud and happy for them both. He isn't the easiest of dogs to work with (is too happy and excitable at times) but he went very well and did as he was asked. Emma will handle Baako again at the Houndshow next weekend. To top it off, Baako then passed his Bronze good citizen test, he was absolutely perfect, and the trainer commented that I had clearly worked very hard with him and that he was a real credit to the breed. Beauty and brains!

Midlands and Northern Rhodesian Ridgeback Championship Show

Another long drive down south, this time sharing company with Lisa, Kate and Gillian (thanks for the driving Gillian!) We enjoyed a nice meal in the beer garden at Stafford, and then onto the hotel for the night.

Baako was in first, and was awarded 3rd place in special yearling, he was slightly lame and I had considered withdrawing, but as he wasn't painful decided to enter him, he went well and it was a strong class. Next up Lisa and Elvis, awarded 1st in post graduate dog, well done Lisa. Elvis then goes on to take the RCC, he's a fab boy!

Next up, Leeds and Houndshow....

Baako gets awarded his Beginners certificate in Dog Obedience and Road Safety at our local training class by an external road safety training officer. Proud of how the boy is doing at obedience, he loves it, and every week we provide entertainment to the other dogs and their owners, this week Baako was naughty and ripped the pocket of a womans jeans as he tried to paw for her treat bag, oops! Needless to say, I wasnt actually holding him at this point, my mum had hold of him for a few minutes, so not my fault!

20.06.2009.

Border Union Championship show.

After a rocky few weeks of bad behaviour from the cheeky one (next time you see us ask about the black eye and the escape attempt!) Baako redeemed himself by behaving beautifully over the weekend at Border Union.

After an early start, we drove down on our own, (I had been to the Take That gig the night before, yippee and needed a lie in) Thankfully the rain managed to stay off long enough for us to show. Baako was in his first post graduate class (hes getting all grown up) and he was placed a respectable 2nd place, i was very happy. He ran beautifully for most of the circuit, (had a small "spring lamb" moment halfway through) and stood lovely. What a boy. He then came along to Sharons party back at the caravan site, and then behaved himself overnight as we ended up staying over with Kate last minute! Well done to Lisa and Elvis for 1st place the boys doing fantastic at the moment, Avril and Loki for 3rd, Gillian and Floyd for reserve and Andy and Diesal for VHC, good class for the scottish ridgebacks! Thanks to our judge Mr Martin Sanders.

Cant believe its been a full year since we started showing, what a great year its been!

Southern Counties championship show

Lisa and I travelled down to Southern Counties Championship show (Berkshire) where the weather got more and more wet as we travelled further south. How often does it happen that Scotland is the warmer place to be? We travelled in style in Lisas new car, it is gorgeous!

First in the ring was myself and Baako in the junior class, we were awarded 2nd place out of a very large class, Baako stood well, and moved good considering the ground was extremely slippery! Next up is Lisa who takes 1st place in both of her classes, yearling and graduate, well done Lisa, it is indeed a lucky suit! Well done to Nicky and Teddy, 1st in open dog, to gillian and Nina and Anny who both recieved 1st places in their classes, and to Janice and Lexie who were awarded Reserve out of a large class. A good day for all the Scottish Ridgies!  Many thanks to our judge Gill Lawless (breed specialist)

Baako goes BEST IN SHOW, at Fife Agricultural Association!!!

Lisa and I went along for a nice holiday weekend day out, the sun nearly stayed out all day, and we had a lovely time relaxing and watching the horse showing. We had entered the boys into the pedigree section of the dog show, all classes were any variety. I was up first, and Baako got 1st in AV non working breed from a big class, I was very happy and got a lovely big red rosette. Next up was Lisa and Elvis who took part in AV open dog or bitch, and won! We had to wait on another few classes and then it was back for the Best in Show line-up. The judge made us move our dogs again and after a minutes deliberation, she started walking over to us, I couldnt believe it when she held out the beautiful Best in Show rosette. We also got a beautiful cup, Thank you to our Judge Mrs Andrea Cowan and thank you to Lisa for a fab day out!
